Biocontrol of Stemphylium vesicarium and Pleospora allii on Pear by Bacillus subtilis and Trichoderma spp.: Preventative and Curative Effects on Inoculum Production

Trials under controlled and field conditions were conducted to establish the effect of strategies application biological control agents (BCAs) in reduction Stemphylium vesicarium Pleospora allii inoculum production on pear leaf debris. Six BCAs based different strains Trichoderma spp. (Tr1, Tr2) Bacillus subtilis (Bs1, Bs2, Bs3 Bs4) evaluated. Two tested experiments: before (preventative strategy) or after (curative debris colonization by S. vesicarium, evaluating growth inhibition sporulation pseudothecia P. allii. When applied preventatively, efficacy treatments B. was higher than those controlling pathogen colonization, but that similar. However, when curatively, products more effective. In trials, Tr1 subtlilis Bs1 produced a consistent 45–50% decrease number conidia trapped compared non-treated control.
